Ceremony of presentation of the pennant to the trainees of the "Submarine Minerve" promotion of the superior military preparation maistrance
Le June 23 2018 the PMS(1) Maitrance, promotion "Minerva" is a ceremony which received its pennant during held in St Renan (Finistère)
The promotion was then received on July 4 at the cenotaph at Pointe Saint-Mathieu (Plougonvelin/Finistère), during which a tribute was paid to the crew of the submarine Minerve.
On this occasion Mr. Georges Kevorkian delivered the speech he had written on the occasion of the commemorative ceremony of January 27 for the fiftieth anniversary of the disappearance of the Minerve. (clickHERE)
All the participants in front of the plaque embedded in the rock with the name (among others) of the submarine Minerva and the names of the 52 victims (transportable plaque) on the way memory of Pointe Saint-Mathieu (see website "To the Sailors).
(1) The PMS maistrance is a 3-week course aimed at young people with Bac to Bac +2 graduates. It takes place in July, at the naval training centers of Brest (Finistère) and Saint-Mandrier (Var). This course is an opportunity to discover the Navy and the specificities of the military role within the institution. Visits to warships or military sites and trips to the sea can be organized during this course. At the end of the PMS maistrance, it is possible to serve in the French Navy as a reservist.
